Fun Easter Books

Looking for a last minute surprise to add to the kids’ Easter basket?  How about a fun Easter book?  Here are some that Within Reach Learning Center likes…

The Easter Egg by Jan Brett  – The beloved children’s author shares a tale of her lovable bunny hero, Hoppi, and her remarkable Easter Rabbit will enchant readers as they pore over illustrations filled with dazzling eggs made by Flora Bunny, Aunt Sassyfrass and others.

The Enormous Carrot by Vladimir Vagin – In the story two rabbits are surprised to find an enormous carrot growing in their garden.  The rabbits quickly realize that they need help to pull this enormous carrot out of the garden.  The story is cute and has repetition so that children can quickly learn to read along with the familiar text.  The story is a good jumping off place to talk about teamwork, and nutrition.

The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown – A little bunny keeps running away from his mother in an imaginative and imaginary game of verbal hide-and-seek; children will be profoundly comforted by this lovingly steadfast mother who finds her child every time.

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett – This classic for older readers is about a ten year old girl who becomes an orphan and unhappily goes to live with her uncle in England. She learns about a secret garden somewhere on the manor, and goes looking for it. Once found, she and the other characters restore the old garden to its original state, and as the garden heals so do the characters.
