Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Within Reach?

Our center provides supplemental education for young children. At Within Reach, we help children from pre-school to 5th grade improve their reading, math, and writing skills. The main purpose of the program is to get the students excited about these traditional subjects by taking a fun approach. Within Reach is a place where your child will be motivated, confident, and have fun while learning!

  • Why are group classes better?

Small group classes are super helpful for several reasons: 1. It takes the pressure off of a child who is struggling. (Imagine you are struggling and then have a 1-on-1 tutor. It is a lot of pressure and not great for confidence!) 2. Being with other kids at their same level improves confidence quickly. 3. Being in a small group is also fun, and they learn from each other! And when it's fun, they will want to come!

  • How do we differ?

At Within Reach, every lesson is reinforced through activities, so kids have a lot of fun while learning. Instruction is happening the whole hour, the students just don’t realize it because they are having fun. I also partner with teachers to make it more individualized and successful for each child. We are not a franchise, and therefore, I am able to personalize instruction based exactly on what your child needs.

  • How long do students stay?

Marathon vs. Sprint: Most kids stay 6 months to a year. Many students stay longer! It is such a gift to be a part of their lives for such an extended time. Your time commitment depends on your needs, finances, and what level you want your child to stop at, and goals. My goal is always to have a child leave my center above grade level. That way we are not playing catch up ever again. Once I assess your child, I will be able to give you a better time line.

  • What is the time commitment?

Kids come twice a week for an hour each session. Of course, to see more results, our lessons should be reinforced at home with weekly practice through assignments, nightly reading, etc. You will get out of this what you put in. My job is to be a catalyst for change and improvement, but I cannot do it alone. I am here for you and to support you, but I am not a miracle worker. I wish I was!

  • How do I get started?

Getting started is easy. Please click on our “Request Information” page to set up an assessment. During the assessment, I will test your child, walk you through the program in more detail, show you actual materials, and get you set up on a schedule.
